Who is Direct Energy?

Direct Energy is one of the largest retail energy providers in North America, serving nearly one million customers in Texas alone. We are headquartered in Houston and have offices across the state. We also own three power plants in Texas.

Why should I switch to the Price Protection Plan™?

With the combined base of nearly one million customers in Texas, we have a strong presence in the state. Wires, power lines, meter reading and emergency services will remain the same and provided by your local utility. How can you offer electricity at such a competitive price?

Our size enables us to take advantage of opportunities in the energy market. We are able to purchase electricity and the natural resources needed to produce it at competitive prices and pass the savings on to you.

Is there a fee to sign up or cancel?

No! You can enroll for free! And no cancellation fee will be charged should you decide to end your service with Direct Energy.

Will my service change in any way?

The only change you will notice is that your electricity bill will now come from Direct Energy. Your power lines, meter reading and emergency services will continue to be provided by your local utility.

How will I be billed when I switch?

Your local utility will still read your meter but will transfer that information to Direct Energy. Direct Energy will then calculate, print and send your bill.
