What is Critical Care?

Critical Care is a service for consumers with disabling illnesses who have life-support equipment in their home. These customers have a priority authorization by the Transmission Distribution Service Provider to bring up their power first when a power outage occurs.

How can I apply for Critical Care status?

We will be happy to send you the application for Critical Care status. When you return the completed form to us, we will forward your application to the Transmission Distribution Service Provider in your area (TXU Electric Delivery Company), who will determine actual eligibility for Critical Care. While we can switch your electricity provider to Direct Energy today, you will need to complete the application process to request Critical Care status.

Will I lose my Critical Care status when I switch?

If you are currently in the Critical Care program, your switch to Direct Energy will not change your status.
